Looking for the perfect sip to elevate your summer afternoons? Meet the Rosé Hugo Spritz — a refreshing twist on a classic European spritz that blends the floral notes of elderflower with the crisp elegance of rosé wine. Light, bubbly, and effortlessly chic, this drink captures the essence of warm-weather relaxation. Whether you’re hosting a garden brunch or lounging on the patio, the Rosé Hugo Spritz is your new go-to for stylish sipping.
If you were to ask me what my favorite drink is, I’d tell you it’s the Hugo Spritz. The Hugo Spritz is light, floral, and refreshing — a quintessential summer drink in a glass. I think you all like it too, since it’s been the number one recipe on my site. My friend Felix is back from Europe this summer and has informed me that the drink of the season is a variation of the Hugo Spritz. A Rosé Hugo Spritz. The variations use either a cranberry liqueur or a rose liqueur. I was unable to find the specialty liquors here in Miami, but if you do, I say go for it! Additionally, the prosecco is switched out with rosé. I made one variation with rose water and another with Elderflower.

Ingredients: Rosé Hugo Spritz
- Rosé Prosecco: If you don’t like Rosé, make the original Hugo Spritz. But if you do, this one is an excellent spin on the original!
- Elderflower liqueur: St. Germain and St. Elder are two brands of elderflower liqueur that can be used for the Hugo spritz. It may be challenging to source the St. Germain, so call around to see who might have it before heading to your local liquor store. Instead of the bitter Aperol, the Hugo uses a floral base from the elderflower. What’s trending in Europe right now is either a cranberry liqueur or a rose liqueur mixed with the Rosé; however, as mentioned, I wasn’t able to find them! I used Elderflower Liqueur for one variation and rose water for another.
- Club Soda: To add a little volume and help dilute the fizz, use any unflavored sparkling water. Always great to keep cans of sparkling water in your pantry for this reason. Just make sure to put them in the refrigerator to help cool or chill the drink (even though you’ll add ice, it still helps!)
- Fresh Mint Leaves: Don’t skip the step of muddling the mint leaves. This helps to release their oil and flavor! Your nose plays a critical role in the enjoyment of this drink. The mint is not optional!

How To Make A Rosé Hugo Spritz
- Add the St. Germain (Elderflower liqueur) and 1-2 mint sprigs into a wine glass. Gently muddle and let sit for two minutes.
- Add ice, the Rosé Prosecco, and soda water.
- Stir to combine gently. Garnish with a mint sprig.
- Serve immediately and enjoy!
This Rosé Hugo Spritz is easy to make and requires minimal effort. As mentioned, if you can find the specialty liqueurs, use either a Rose liqueur or a cranberry liqueur. If you are a fan of Rosé, this is a nice spin on the original. This drink is anything but ordinary – the addition of elderflower liqueur adds a touch of mystery to the drink. I forever stand by a Hugo Spritz > Aperol Spritz, all day, every day!

What To Serve With Your Rosé Hugo Spritz
The Rosé Hugo Spritz is served as an aperitif. Aperitifs are meant to be served before a meal to help stimulate your appetite (and not fill you up too much!) They’re lighter in alcohol and drier than sweet. Remember, the Rosé Hugo is on the lighter, refreshing side and does have bubbles. Foods that pair well will be salty, creamy, or fatty, as well as sweet, as these flavors will help mitigate the bitterness.

- Total Time: 5 minutes
- Yield: 1 1x
Ingredients
- 1/2 ounce Elderflower liqueur
- 4 ounces of Rosé Prosecco
- 1 ounce of soda water
- 1–2 mint leaves
Instructions
- Add the St. Germain (Elderflower liqueur) and 1-2 mint sprigs into a wine glass. Gently muddle and let sit for two minutes.
- Add ice, the Rosé Prosecco, and soda water.
- Stir to combine gently. Garnish with a mint sprig.
- Serve immediately and enjoy!
Notes
*Directions are for using the Elderflower liquor. IF you find the rose liquor, switch out the Elderflower liquor and use the rose liquor in its place.
*The other variation pictured is to use rose water instead of the Elderflower liquor. That, too, is an alternative. I added 1/2 ounce of simple syrup to this combination, as my Rosé Prosecco was not sweet.
