Chunky Guacamole in a Ramekin

Guacamole – Chunky or Smooth? I choose a mix between chunky and smooth, but you really can’t go wrong when it comes to guacamole. Avocados, onion, tomatoes, cilantro, jalapeno pepper, lime juice, and salt. Easy and delicious!

Ingredients for guacamole - avocado, jalapeno, red onion, tomato, cilantro, & llime juice

Last week I gave you Salad Pizza and this week I’m giving you an Easy Chunky Guacamole recipe. Can you tell I love football season and food? As for any game watching party, the food is SUPER important. Pizza and Guacamole may not go together, but they each are great football watching foods to include on your menu!

Football games run around 3 hours in length, so I always plan to have a few snacks and then the main event. This easy chunky guacamole is a great dip for chips and also as a topping for tacos. And while the avocadoes do turn brown a bit if you have leftovers, I made this recipe as a small amount (for sharing), so hopefully there won’t be any leftovers (but you can always use the 2x, 3x in the recipe below to increase quantities!)

Easy Chunky Guacamole

  1. Avocadoes – The only thing tricky about avocadoes is making sure they’re ready when you need them. Grocery stores these days have many times separated the ‘ripe’ avocadoes from the ‘not ripe just yet’. But we’ve all been there, avocadoes can go from ripe to overripe quickly (currently freezing one to see if it keeps – stay tuned!)
  2. Tomatoes – Any type of tomato will do. The key is making sure not to get too many seeds in & extra tomato juice.
  3. Red Onion– I’m not normally a big fan of raw onion, but if it’s diced super tiny, I’m all in. The flavor adds just that little extra. If you’re weary of the red onion, you can always rinse it in water (& drain) to take a bit of the bite out.
  4. Cilantro– I am not a part of the 14% of the population that doesn’t like fresh cilantro. If you are, just skip it. But I’m a fan of adding herbs and spices to food when you can!
  5. Jalapeño – This is another ingredient that if you’re not a fan of hot/spicy foods, you could leave out. But in all honesty, I cut out the seeds from the jalapeño and it really isn’t hot/spicy at all. Promise!
  6. Lime Juice – Freshly squeezed, please!
  7. Salt and Pepper – Just a dash of each. I’m used to not adding too much salt with my food, but add it to the palm of your hand and sprinkle in.

How To Make Easy Chunky Guacamole

Alright, let’s talk how to make easy homemade chunky guacamole – for your dips, Taco Tuesday, or Avocado Toast! Simply…

  1. Dice Your Avocadoes: You can keep the avocadoes in chunks, but if you like guacamole more on the smooth side, you can always mash the avocadoes with a fork until your desired consistency.
  2. Prep all the other ingredients: Dice your red onion, tomatoes, jalapeño, & cilantro. Juice your lime. And grab a small amount of salt and pepper.
  3. Mix in all the ingredients: Add in the onion, cilantro, jalapeño, lime juice, tomatoes, and salt & pepper and stir until combined.
  4. Taste and season: Taste the mixture – you can always season with a tad bit more salt and pepper if needed. You can add a bit more lime juice if you like it tangier and more jalapeño if you like it spicier.
  5. Serve: and enjoy!!
