5 from 1 review

Flaky, golden layers of pastry topped with thinly sliced apples, a touch of cinnamon, and a glossy finish — it’s the kind of dessert that looks impressive but comes together with ease. Perfect for cozy fall gatherings or a simple weekend treat, this puff pastry apple tart celebrates the beauty of apple season in the most delicious way. Serve it warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a drizzle of dulce de leche for an extra-special touch.

  • Total Time: 35 minutes
  • Yield: 9 1x

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed, cut into 9 rectangles
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 3 whole apples, cored, halved, and sliced (not peeled)
  • Optional toppings: powdered sugar, a dollop of vanilla ice cream, a drizzle of dulce de leche

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Set your oven to 400°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper (or a silpat).
  2. Prepare the puff pastry: Make sure it is fully thawed first. Place the puff pastry (1 sheet) onto the baking pans.
  3. Prepare the apples: Thinly slice the apples (no need to peel). In a medium bowl, toss the slices with lemon juice, brown sugar, and cinnamon until evenly coated.
  4. Assemble the tart: Arrange the apple slices in a straight line on the pastry rectangles, slightly overlapping as you go.
  5. Bake for 18-20 minutes, or until the pastry is golden and the apples are tender.
  6. Remove from the pan immediately and place on a serving platter.
  7. Add the finishing touch: serve with warm dulce de leche (just until pourable), then drizzle over the tart before serving. You can also serve plain, with whipped cream, or a sprinkling of powdered sugar.
