- 1/2 cup heavy whipping cream
- 1/2 cup sugar

- 3 ounces dark chocolate, 60-70%, finely chopped

- Combine: In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine the whipping cream, sugar, and cocoa powder. Whisk continuously until the mixture is smooth and begins to gently simmer. The cocoa powder should be fully dissolved, and the mixture will start to thicken slightly.
- Add: Reduce the heat to low and add the chopped dark chocolate. Stir until completely melted and the sauce is smooth and glossy. This step is where the sauce really develops its rich, layered chocolate flavor.
- Remove the pan from the heat and stir in the butter until fully melted and incorporated. The sauce will become even smoother and take on that signature sheen.
- Cool: Let the sauce cool slightly before serving—it will thicken as it sits but remain perfectly pourable when warm.
