- 1 cup water
- 1 cup sugar
- 3 1/2 ounces fresh ginger (1 cup), peeled, and sliced into matchsticks
Instructions
- Prep the Ginger Use the edge of a spoon to gently peel the ginger (this helps remove the skin without wasting too much of the flesh). Slice the ginger into thin matchsticks for maximum flavor infusion.
- Combine Ingredients: In a small saucepan, combine the water, sugar, and prepared ginger.
- Simmer Bring to a gentle simmer over medium heat, stirring until the sugar fully dissolves.
- Infuse: Reduce heat and let simmer for about 10–15 minutes, allowing the ginger to infuse and deepen in flavor.
- Cool & Strain: Remove from heat and let cool. Strain out the ginger and transfer the syrup to a jar or bottle.
