Ingredients
Scale
- 1–14 ounce can sweetened condensed milk
Instructions
- Prepare the can. Remove the label from the can of sweetened condensed milk. Check that the can is undamaged and has no pull-tab top (a solid, sealed can is safest).
- Place in the Instant Pot. Set the can on its side or standing up in the Instant Pot. Fill the pot with water until the can is fully submerged, with at least 2-3 inches of water covering the top.
- Pressure cook – Lock the lid and set the valve to Sealing. Cook on high pressure for 35 minutes for a lighter, pourable dulce de leche, or 40 minutes for a thicker, darker version.
- Natural release – Allow the Instant Pot to naturally release pressure. This helps the can cool more gently.
- Cool completely – Using tongs, carefully remove the can. Let it cool completely to room temperature before opening (this is important—opening while hot can be dangerous).
- Enjoy – Open the can, stir well, and transfer to a jar. Store covered in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.
